Irene C. Knight

Irene C. Knight, 91, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at McLeod Hospice House. Mrs. Knight was born the daughter of the late Maude Smith Carraway and Duff Carraway. She was a member of Effingham Presbyterian Church and retired from J. C. Penney. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert B. Knight; brother, Marvin Carraway, and sister, Velma Smith. Surviving are her sons, Robert W. (Deborah) Knight of Effingham, Alan Knight of Effingham, Steve (Missy) Knight of Saluda, and Andy (Cheryl) Knight of Effingham; daughter, Jean (Dwight) Allen of Effingham; 8 grandchildren, Amy Knight, Jeffrey (Brandi) Knight, Natalie (Robert) Hardy, Brent Allen, Dana Lewis, Ashley (Jesse) Hawkins, Brian (Staci) Knight and Amanda (Carl) Wagner; and thirteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will follow at Effingham Cemetery. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice, P. O.
