James A. Bruce, Jr.

James A. Bruce, Jr., 77, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Mr. Bruce was born the son of the late Doris Curry Bruce and James A. Bruce. He was a veteran of the US Army, an active member of Florence Baptist Temple where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and a member of the Finance Committee. He retired as Vice-President of Pee Dee State Bank after 25 years of employment. Surviving are his wife, Brenda Hayes Bruce; daughters, Robin (Ronald) Bowman and Jennifer (Steven) Dodd, both of Florence; grandchildren, Kaybren Boyd, Jack Bowman, Emily K. Dodd, Erica Grace Dodd, Stevie Dodd and Sam Dodd; and sister, Jo Etta (Dr. Larry) Chewning of Florence. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Florence Baptist Temple Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Florence Baptist Temple Chapel directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Mount Hope Mausoleum.
