James W. Galbraith Jr.

James “Jimmy” William Galbraith, Jr., 82, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Mr. Galbraith was born in Florence, SC a son of the late James William Galbraith and Frances Hewett McPherson. He graduated from South Florence High School and was a member of the Florence Baptist Temple for 30+ years. He retired as a truck driver from Rainwater Gas Company after 23 years. He enjoyed going to church, reading his Bible, the outdoors, doing woodwork, and spending time with his family. James was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda Holloman Galbraith; step-father, Louie McPherson; and step-grandson, Jeremy Chockley. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Osborne Galbraith of Florence; children, Sarah (Clay) Welch of Florence and Travis Galbraith of Florence; step-children, Lori (Tim) Smearing of Cross, SC, Todd (Tammy) Browder of Florence, Dawn (Joe) Lynch of Florence, April (Joe) Blackman of Darlington, Michele (Scott) Parrott of Timmonsville, Melissa (Ron) Timmons of Lake City, SC, and Nikki Browder of Coward; two grandchildren, Andrew Welch and Valerie Welch; 13 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Monday, August 19, 2024 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at McPherson Cemetery, Florence, SC.
