James Carlisle Gibbs, Jr.

James Carlisle Gibbs, Jr., 83, of Florence, SC passed away April 04, 2025. Born in Lynchburg, SC, he was the son of the late Maxie McGee Gibbs and James Carlisle Gibbs, Sr. He was a member at Florence Baptist Temple for 55 years where he played in the orchestra and taught Sunday School Class. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, coaching sports teams, golfing and trips to the beach. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Donnie Gibbs, Sidney Gibbs and Robert Gibbs. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Jo Gibbs; sons, James Lee (Macie) Gibbs, Jeffery Lynn (Kristie) Gibbs; grandchildren, Maysun Gibbs, Lindsay Gibbs, Justin Gibbs, Jeffrey Gibbs and Ashlyn Gibbs; and sister, Louise Britt. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 11, 2025, at Florence Baptist Temple. Entombment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
