James Edward “Eddie” Ivey, 73, departed this life on Friday, September 3, 2021, at MUSC Hospital, Florence, SC. He was born the second son of Rev. Henry A. Ivey, Sr. and Margaret Barnhill Ivey on November 25, 1947, in Conway, SC. After he served his country in the Army in Vietnam, he was employed with the National Cemetery in Florence. Eddie enjoyed being part of the “Pee Dee Street Rodders”. He was fun-loving. He enjoyed dancing, especially shagging to beach music. All his family and extended family members adored him. Eddie leaves behind 2 brothers and 2 sisters:Rev. H. Albert Ivey, Jr. (Donna) of Florence, Deborah Newton (Donnie) of Andrews, Joel Ivey (Sandra) of Dillon, and Karen Hogan (Mike) of Andrews; 8 nieces and nephews: LaDonna Stalvey and Ken Ivey, Jason Newton and Jeffrey Newton, Amanda Ivey and Matthew Ivey, Allen Hogan and Katelyn Gamble and 9 great-nieces and nephews; and 1 great-great-niece. He was predeceased by his parents. A Celebration of Life Service, with Military Recognition, will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel, 2402 S. Irby Street, Florence, SC, officiated by his brother, Rev. H. Albert Ivey, Jr.The family and extended family will be notified when we bury Eddie with our parents in the Andrews Cemetery.
