James C. (Red) McLellan Sr., 84, of Florence, died peacefully Saturday, October 8, 2022, in McLeod Hospice House. Mr. McLellan was born in Marion County, a son of the late Samuel Cicero McLellan and Mattie Campbell McLellan. He retired from Young Pecan Company. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Vergie Youmans, Eloise Coleman, and Joyce Stork; four brothers, S. C. McLellan, LeGrande McLellan, Bobby McLellan and Hubert McLellan. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Lorena McLellan; a daughter, Karen (Freddie) D’Agnese; two sons, James C. (Susie) McLellan Jr. and Mark (Rhonda) McLellan, all of Florence; 5 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. McLellan is also survived by one brother, Reverend Franklin (Shirley) McLellan. He worked at Young Pecan Company his entire career and was plant manager for many years. An avid hunter, he loved breeding and raising hounds. He was president of several hunting clubs and built and operated Sugar Hill Fox pen. An avid gardener, he spent lots of time in his garden during the summer. In later years, fishing was a high priority and was always trying to get anybody to take him. The only thing he liked more than fishing was eating them. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
