Janie Powers Ham, 85, of Florence, SC passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024. She was born in Timmonsville, SC, the daughter of the late Charles Ellie and Christine Driggers Powers. Janie was a member of College Park Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener and loved cooking. She was a social butterfly and enjoyed showing up for all the grandkids sports events. She was a long-time retired employee of Belk Department Store, where she worked for 26 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Gerald Ham; and sisters, Marthan Gainey, Janice Hancock, and Christabell Dixon. Surviving are her son, Gerald Steve (Jean) Ham; daughter, Tammy Ham Timmons; grandchildren, Delaney Timmons, Lauren Godbold, and Kayla Godbold; brother, Wade (Patsy) Powers; sisters, Joan Howard and Wanda Carraway; special niece and nephew, Donna Griffith and Anthony Carraway; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special furry friend, Rufus. The family would like to give special thanks to McLeod Hospice for their gracious care for Mrs. Janie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, December 16, 2024, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
