Janie “Jane” Elizabeth Nolan passed away on July 9, at her home in Florence, SC. Jane is predeceased by her parents, Maxcy and Janie Nolan, and her brother Maxcy. Jane was a charter member of Unity Baptist Church, where she was very active in the children’s ministry and was a faithful member of the choir. Jane was a lifelong elementary school teacher, she taught at Briggs Elementary and Moore Intermediate School. Her students adored her, and she always enjoyed “running into” them at various times and places following the school years. Always friendly and outgoing, Jane made friends easily. She truly cared about others and was an easy listener. Jane enjoyed her friendships with the ladies she knew through her work with Mary Kay Cosmetics and her membership with Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Jane is survived by her sisters, Barbara Hewitt, of Florence and Edna Ann Belk of Rock Hill, one brother Tom Nolan, of Galivants Ferry, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her dearly. Jane had a firm belief in the lordship of Jesus Christ and in His promise that “absent from the body” means “present with the Lord”. She understood the strength of that promise and expects to see again all of us to share in that security. The family expresses gratitude to McLeod Hospice and Jane’s faithful caregivers. A private gathering will be held by immediate family at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Connie Maxwell Children's Ministries, PO Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648-1178 or to Samaritan’s Purse, http://www.samaritanspurse.org.
