Jessie Lane Rice

Jessie Lane Rice, 62, of Summerville, SC passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Mr. Rice was born in Lumberton, NC a son of the late Andrew Rice, Sr. and Ida Mae Haywood Rice. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum, was a member of Peace FWB Church and was actively working for the Habitat for Humanity of Goose Creek. Jessie was an avid fisherman with a love for the outdoors and the water, which he passed down to his children. He planned to retire before 2022 and move to Florence with his daughter, Shaniqua. His plans being unexpectedly cut short by Covid pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ida Mae Rice; son, Curtis Rice; and sister, Missy Rice of Chimney Rock, NC. Surviving are his sons, Karl (Daniela) Rice and Ronnie (Beth) Rice; daughters, Shaniqua Rice and Shequana Rice; grandchildren, Ashton Rice, Abbie Rice, and Grace Barron; brothers, Andrew (Beth) Rice, Jr. and Larry (Colleen) Rice; mother of his children, Delores Farley; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 pm Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Peace Free Will Baptist Church with the service to be held at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at a later date at Dorchester Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Peace Free Will Baptist Church, 897 Third Loop Road, Florence, SC 29505.
