Jettie Lee Gainey

January 22, 1939 — April 2, 2025

Jettie Lee Gainey, 86, of Florence, SC passed away Wednesday April 02, 2025. Ms. Gainey was born in Florence County, the daughter of the late Jettie Zuleen Pender Lee and Solomon John Lee. She was a woman of deep faith, whose love and devotion touched the hearts of all who knew her. A faithful member of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, she exemplified the true meaning of love and service, guiding her family with unwavering kindness, patience, and grace. Her love for her family was boundless. As a mother, she nurtured her children with tender care and endless support. As a grandmother, she shared her wisdom and joy, always finding ways to create lasting memories. And as a wife, she was devoted and stood by her husband of twenty-two years, Roger Gainey. Ms. Gainey had a vibrant spirit, and her passions painted the canvas of her life. She found comfort in country music, letting the melodies fill her soul and connect her with memories of happier times. She delighted in the challenge of puzzles and games, always ready for the next challenge, and her playful spirit shone through in everything she did. But above all, she had a deep love for the natural world. The sight of a cardinal perched in her yard would always bring a smile to her face. She found peace in the beauty of the birds, and it became a symbol of her own strength and resilience, flying freely and gracefully through life, no matter the challenges she faced. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by brothers, Darby Lee and Charles Ray Lee; and sisters, Dorothy Pate, Allie Wells Gainey and Betty Jean Templeman. Surviving are her sons, Robert Allen Bannister and Paul Douglas Bannister; daughters, Cheryl Ann Garcia and Debbie (Mark) Smith; grandchildren, Ricardo Garcia, Jr, Nicholas (Kristin) Garcia, Luis Garcia, Allen Jeffery “A.J.” Bannister, Martin (Melissa) Smith, and Jeremy Smith; great-grandchild, Aubrey Rayne Bannister; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The family will receive friends 12:00 – 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 08, 2025, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with the service to follow at 1:00 PM.
