Jo Lynn Ham Dorrell

Jo Lynn Ham Dorrell, 78, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Mrs. Dorrell was born the daughter of the late Hazel Timmons Ham and John “Bud” Ham. She was a devoted Christian woman loved by her Elim and Lighthouse Church families. She was a public and private school teacher for many years. She managed the Uptown Motel, the first motel in Florence which was built, owned and operated by her parents. She loved all animals, especially her rescued dogs. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, James Carroll Dorrell, Sr.; and her brothers, Johnny Ham and his wife, Chip, and Jerry Ham. Mrs. Dorrell is survived by her sons, James “Jay” (Saundra) Dorrell, Jr. and Walton “Will” (Chrystal) Dorrell; grandchildren, Autumn Dorrell and Madison Dorrell; and sister-in-law, Anne Ham. Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Lawrence Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
