John A. Newman Timmonsville, SC John A. Newman, 68, of Timmonsville, formerly of Clarion, PA., died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mr. Newman was born in West Finley Township, PA., a son of the late Arthur J. and Nannie Main Newman. He was a member of Claysville Christian Church in Claysville, PA. and had been employed with Coen Oil Company in Washington, PA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed mechanics, was a racing fan for many years, enjoyed traveling and visiting with family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Wheeler. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Alice Mitchell Newman of Timmonsville, with whom he would have been married for 50 years on June 16, 2011; 3 sons, Brant (Jenny) Newman of Washington, John M. (Tammie) Newman of Leeper, PA. and Jim Newman of Effingham, SC; daughter,Katie (David) Wolbert of Clarion, PA; 2 brothers, Bill Newman of Avella, PA. and Leroy Newman of Washington, PA; 2 sisters, Betty Galentine of Claysville, PA. and Marie Gray of Washington, Pa; 11 grandchildren, Gina Newman, Ethan Newman, Amanda (Seth) Finkey, Mitchell (Kim) McAdoo, Samantha (Matt) Eidemiller, Kayla Wolbert, Jessica Wolbert, Justin Wolbert, John W. Newman, Shayla Newman and Christian Newman; 6 great-grandchildren, Quinn and Kellan Ardino, Matthew and Lillian Eidemiller and Patrick and Andrew Finkey and a number of nieces and nephews. A private service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Carolinas Hospice, PO Box 100552, Florence, SC29502 or to a charity of one's choice.
