John Ernest Lane

John Ernest Lane, Sr., 71, of Effingham, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Mr. Lane was born a son of the late Clarice Strickland Lane and Floyd Neal Lane and grew up in Darlington, SC.Mr. Lane retired from emergency services with the Salvation Army.Mr. Lane was a Vietnam era veteran of the US Navy. He is survived by his wife, Samantha Mitchell Lane; daughter, Holly Lee (Michael); sons, Ernest M. Lane (Macey) and John Basallote (Dawn); eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Neal Lane (Amy) and sister, Reecie Freeman (Ricky). Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at theStoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
