John Dennis Sullivan

John Dennis Sullivan, a longtime resident of Florence, passed away on February 20, 2023, at the age of 79. John was the son of the late Rita P. Sheehan Sullivan and Daniel J. Sullivan. He is predeceased by his brother, Daniel J. Sullivan, Jr. and survived by his sister Mary (Wade) North and his brothers Thomas (Linda) Sullivan, James (Katherine) Sullivan, Raymond (Janet) Sullivan, Jeremiah (Catherine) Sullivan and Vincent (Anne) Sullivan, and many nieces and nephews. John was born in the Bronx, New York, where he attended high school at Cardinal Hayes. He received his undergraduate degree from Marist College and his Masters Degree from Fordham University. Following graduation, John was a school teacher at Wilson High in Florence for several years, then retired after 27 years as a Social Security Administration case manager. For many years, he loved tending bar at Apple Annie’s, where he had many cherished friends. John was an avid reader with a particular interest in History. He was an even more avid daily walker and enjoyed taking long trips in his beloved black Cadillac. John was a caring son, brother, uncle and friend, who enjoyed spending time with the people he loved, particularly his family at Apple Annie’s. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 27, 2023, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
