Johnnie Gwendolyn Ervin

Johnnie Gwendolyn Ervin, 84, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Mrs. Ervin was born in Florence County, SC, a daughter of the late Gladys Hudson Oakley and Joe Jefferson Oakley. She was a member of Palmetto Street Church of God. She worked as manager with both Marlowe Manufacturing (Klear Knit) and with Craig Manufacturing. Mrs. Ervin then started her own business, Gwen Manufacturing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer A. Ervin; brothers, Steven Randy Oakley and Odell Oakley; daughter, Martha Jean Ervin; 7 sisters, Anna Joe Allen, Bobbie Jean Owens, Shirley Watford, Harriett Parrott, Jessie Hudson, Loraine Hicks, and Cecil Parker; and grandson, Josh Case. Surviving are her son, Homer A. Ervin, Jr. (Stephanie); daughters, Margaret Ann Case, Denise E. Stroman (Wesley); four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Joe “J.R.” Oakley; and sister, Betty E. Poston. The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Palmetto Street Church of God. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at the church.
