Joseph Allen Simkins

Joseph Allen Simkins Florence, SC Joseph Allen Simkins, 88 of Florence, died Thursday, March 28, 2011 at a local health care facility after an illness. Mr. Simkins was born in Montclair, NJ, a son of the Late William Harrison and Agnes Clossey Simkins.He attended Drexel University, Belmont Abbey, and the University of Georgia Naval Flight School.Mr. Simkins was a veteran of the US Navy having served as a naval aviator during WWII.He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lucile Anne Palese; one sister, Virginia Simkins Smith; two brothers, William Harrison Simkins, Jr. and Robert Simkins. Surviving are six children, Mark Allen Simkins of Columbus, GA, Joseph Robert Simkins of Dallas, TX, David Simkins of St. Petersburg, FL, Kathleen Louise Finucan of Alexandria, VA, Luanne Marie Ackley of Jacksonville, FL, and Lisa Simkins Ellis of St. Petersburg, FL; Grandchildren, Molly Patricia Simkins, Lucile Ann Simkins, Robert Clayton Simkins, Lucile Margaret Finucan, Felicia Ellis and Brandy Ellis, Michelle Ackley, Scott Ackley, and Rachel Ackley; nephews, Robert Simkiins, Mark Simkins; and a niece, Virginia Simkins Allen. A service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, April 4, 2011 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the family receiving friends immediately following the service.
