Joseph "J.R." Robbins Fisher, Jr. Florence, SC Joseph "J.R." Robbins Fisher, Jr. , 78 of Florence, died on Monday, January 2, 2012 at the McLeod Regional Medical Center after a long illness. Mr. Fisher was born on July 27, 1933 in Whitakers, NC,a son of the late Joseph Robbins Fisher, Sr. and the Sally Bell Willey Fisher.He graduated from Enfield High School and attended NC State University.He came to Florence in 1958.J.R. was a member First Baptist Church and was a machinist with both the Atlantic Coastline and CSX Railroads.He was later employed with Hannaco in Florence and Southern Ammunition in Loris.J.R. was a Master Mason for 45 years and a member of Amity Lodge #340.He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans; the Pee Dee Rifles Camp 1419; the Palmetto Battalion, Company C, 8th SCVI.He was awarded the title of Soldier of the Quarter Century. Surviving are his wife, Marshia Fisher of the home; three children, Terry Fisher Jeffers of Florence, Melanie Lynn Fisher of Apoka, FL, and Dana Fisher (Russell) Stewart of Florence; two step-children, Gwynn (John) Seawald of TX and Billy Proske of TX; seven grandchildren, Joseph C. (Lacey) Jeffers,IV, Brittany E. Jeffers, Olivia A. Stewart, Christopher T. Stewart all of Florence, Tori Little andJ.J. Seawald both ofTX, and Dustin Proske of TX; a great-grandchild, Emma Grace Jeffords; a sister, Joyce Ann Fisher (Oliver) Brown of Richmond, VA; and a brother, Zane Bell(Carole) Fisher of Sparta, NC; two nieces. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the War Between the States Museum, 107 S. Guerry Street, Florence, SC 29501. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Friday, January 6, 2011 at the funeral home.
