JUBY "CROW" PHIPPS FLORENCE, SC JUBY "CROW" PHIPPS, 75, of Florence, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mr. Phipps was born in Conway, SC a son of the late Don Phipps and Myrtle Jordan Phipps.He was a member of the National Guard and had attended Eastside Free Will Baptist Church.He was a former truck driver and a CB Ham Radio Technician and Operator with the call letters W4JUB.He was a Master Mason of Amity Lodge # 340 AFM and a member of the Omar Shrine. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hazel Lee Cook Phipps, who died August 21, 2000 and a brother, Ted Phipps. Surviving are his sons, James "Jimmy" Phipps of Florence and Donnie (Wanda) McClendon of Marion; daughter, Sissie (Page) Townsend of Florence; grandchildren, Teia (Brandon) Dufla of Simpsonville, SC, Megan Townsend and Page Townsend, Jr., both of Florence; sister-in-law, Stella Phipps and two canine companions, Speedy and Spanky. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital, c/o the Omar Shrine, PO Box 21028, Charleston, SC29413 or to Eastside Free Will Baptist Church, 1501 Sharon Road, Florence, SC 29506. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 4, 2011 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in the Florence Memorial Gardens.
