KATHY McKENZIE ALMERS FLORENCE, SC KATHY McKENZIE ALMERS, 62, of Florence, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at her residence after a valiant battle with cancer. Mrs. Almers was born in Kingstree, SC a daughter of Margaret McCutcheon McKenzie Driggers and the late T.H. McKenzie.She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was the Administrator at The Carolinian. Surviving are her husband of 25 years, William M. "Bill" Almers of Florence; sons, Michael E. Almers and Kevin J. (Shelley) Almers, both of Florence; mother, Margaret M. Driggers of Kingstree, SC; grandchildren, William Lacon Almers and Evelyn Ruth Almers, both of Florence; sisters, Libby (Richard) Rodgers of Kingstree and Johnnie Lynn (Sheldon) Evans of New Zion, SC and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Avenue North, Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC29577 or to the McLeod Hospice House, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC29502. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 3, 2012 at Central United Methodist Church.Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
