Kenneth M. Jones, Jr.

Kenneth M. Jones, Jr., 78, of Florence, SC passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024. Mr. Jones was born in Los Angeles, CA, the son of the late Kenneth Jones, Sr., and Elizabeth “Betty” Plant Jones. He became a Registered Nurse in 1980 and worked in the Intensive Care Units and Emergency Rooms in local hospitals. He was a travel nurse for over 18 years, working all over the United States including Alaska, Hawaii, Virgin Islands and Navajo Indian Reservation. He went on many mission trips to Nicaragua, helping with medical care. He was an enthusiastic scuba diver and an eagle scout. He loved hiking, the mountains, and canoeing. Mr. Jones was a faithful member of Northwood Family Worship Center. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Trudy Jones Shuba and Stepmother, Elizabeth “Liz” Jones. Surviving are his loving wife of 20 years, Sheryl Collins Jones; sons, David (Leigh) Jones and Neal Jones; stepsons, Steven Sands, Stephen (Donna) Filyaw, Christopher Filyaw, and David Powell; daughter, Christine (Robert) Ackerman; grandchildren, Kassie (Andrew) Scheible, Katelyn Jones, Jarreth (Megan) Ackerman, Robert (Sierra) Ackerman, Julianne Marie (Christian) Ackerman, Winter Jones, Elizabeth Filyaw, Zachary Filyaw and Joshua Filyaw; great grandchildren, Leo and Harley Ackerman; brother, Sean Jones; sisters, Jean Schenker Norkooli, Linda Schenker Harrison, Donna Schenker Higginbotham, and Krystal Jones Parish. A church led service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Northwood Family Worship Center, 1100 E. McIver Road, Darlington, SC. Family is being assisted by Stoudenmie-Dowling Funeral Home.
