Larry Grice

Larry Grice, 82, of Florence, SC passed away at MUSC hospital Florence on Thursday, July 25, 2024, after an illness. Mr. Grice was born in Mullins, SC, the son of the late Robert and Mary Grice. Mr. Grice retired after 40 years of service with AT&T as an electronic toll technician. Mr. Grice was a Christian who loved the Lord. Those that knew him would tell him and his family how good of a man he was. He worked hard all his life and made sure he always provided for his family who were always first in his life. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Mickey Grice who was ready with open arms to welcome him into heaven. He is also predeceased by his in laws Howard and Myrtle Prevatte. Surviving is his daughter Jill and his granddaughter Ashley who he thought of as his daughter and who called him daddy. Mr. Grice would refer to Jill and Ashley as “his girls.” Also surviving are his sisters Priscilla Sawyer (Joe), Beverly Owens (Major); his brother, James Grice (Mettie); sister-in-law, Paulette Scott (Ray); brother-in-law, Greg Prevatte (Sue) and many nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and medical staff at MUSC Florence for their time, attention, and support they gave Mr. Grice and his family. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or one of their choice. Family will receive friends Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel with inurnment to follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
