Larry A. Kester, Sr., 76, of Florence, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Friday, October 28, 2022. Larry is with Jesus because he made his profession of faith and he lived it. Mr. Kester was born in Weirton, West Virginia a son of the late Ervin Kester and Sarah Jane Thompson Kester. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam War and had been a department manager for Weirton Steel in Weirton, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Audrey Harvey; brothers, Clarence, Morris, Rex, and Paul Kester; step-son, Tony Matthews and step-daughter, Sheila Matthews Cumbie. Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Verna “Libby” Galliher Kester; son, Larry A. Kester, Jr. of Florence; step-son, Joel Matthews of West Columbia; grandson, Shane Kester of Florence; step-grandchildren, Haylee Bedenbaugh (Kalen) Boswell of Phenix City, Alabama and Beau Cumbie of Darlington; step-great-grandchildren, Kayden Boswell and Leya Boswell; his first wife, Trudy Kester of Nashua, New Hampshire, and numerous nieces and nephews.
