Lela Christine Carter Bass

Lela Christine Carter Bass, 96, of Florence, SC, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, McLeod Hospice House surrounded by her family. Mrs. Bass was born in Wilson County, NC, a daughter of the late Lela Beamon Carter and Leonard L. Carter. She was a receptionist at McLeod Regional Medical Center part-time for 10 years and was also a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Daniel G. Bass; son, Donald R. Bass; and all of her siblings, Hubert Carter, Henderson Carter, Douglas Carter, Sudie Bell Mitchell, Elouise Carter, Pauline Hare and Mabel Morgan. Surviving are her children, Jimmy (Diane) Bass and Janet C. Bass Griffin, both of Florence, SC, Sue (Danny) Miles of Raleigh, NC, Millie (John) Lavin of Myrtle Beach, SC and Debbie King of Kingstree, SC; grandchildren, Tonya (Dean) Rayne of Meridianville, AL, Angel (Tracy) Olmstead of Kennesaw, GA, Danielle (Bradley) Tyner, Kaylee (Hunter) Welch, Kensley (Gillum) Woodham and Brayden Maksin all of Florence, SC; six other grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren and honorable mention, Bernard Raines. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
