Lena Edwards Finklea Florence, SC Lena Hazel Edwards Finklea, 84, died Saturday evening, February 11, 2012 at her daughter's residence after an illness surrounded by her family. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Greenwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 – 9 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Finklea was born in Florence Co., SC a daughter of the late Robert L. and Cecil Belflower Edwards. She was a faithful member of Greenwood Baptist Church. She was an avid gardner and enjoyed doing needlework.She was a past Hostess and Cook at Greenwood Baptist Church She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lewis "L.C." Finklea, Jr., who died in 1995; brothers, L.C. Edwards, John L. Edwards and Bobby L. Edwards; sister, Kathleen Hemingway. Surviving are her loving daughters, Connie Hazel Finklea (Gil) Phillips of Pawley's Island; Nancy Finklea (Donnie) Bailey of Florence and Kathy Finklea (Mike)Turner of Pamplico; sister, Emma (Billy) McKay of West Columbia; brother, James (Betty) Edwards; special son, Larry (Lisa) Sharpe of Florence; 5 grandchildren, Nick (Cheryl) Phillips of Myrtle Beach, Chris (Michelle) Bailey of Florence, Kevin (Kelli) Bailey of Dillon, Kellie (Scott) Braveboy of Pamplico and Tracie Turner (Jimmy Allen) of Timmonsville; 8 great-grandchildren, number of nieces and nephews and special friends, Olin Johnson and Joe McPherson. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Steven Ross, Marty Hucks, Dr. Michael Pavy and the Dr.'s, Nurses and staff of McLeod Hospice for the love and care they gave to Mrs. Finklea and her family.
