Leona “Tenie” Elizabeth Prosser McElveen, 73, of Florence, SC passed away March 12, 2024. Mrs. McElveen was born in Evergreen, SC, the daughter of the late Ruell Prosser and Trudy Mabel Ard Prosser. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress and was exceptional at crafts; she loved fishing and going to the mountains. She was known by her grandkids as grandma, and warmly known as “Nana” to several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen McElveen; son, Yancey Edward Powell; brothers, Leo Ard, General Myers Prosser, Virgil Dale Prosser, and Lawrence Aaron Prosser; sister, Priscilla Coe. Surviving is her sons, Rodney Powell, and Jim (Lisa) McElveen; stepchildren, James Danny McElveen and Kristie Gilreath; grandchildren, Rodney Caso, Destiny Caso, Rodney “PJ” Powell, Blake Edwards, Tyler Powell, Amanda Chahoud, Emily Powell, Olivia Powell, Savannah Powell, Jonathen Taylor, Stormy Taylor, Ethan Powell; a number of great-grandchildren; brother, Phill Prosser; sisters, Suzanne Taylor, Dena Poston, Angie Coker; and several special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with the service to follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel.
