Leroy Thomas Coates

Leroy Thomas Coates, 78, of Florence, SC, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Mr. Coates was born the son of the late Vada Skipper Coates and Daniel Paul Coates, Sr. He was the owner and operator of Florence Auto Upholstery for many years until retirement. He was an owner of Lil D’s Dugout and loved his antique cars. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Paul Keith Coates, and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Ann Coates; sons, James Daniel (Dianne) Coates and Leroy Coates, Jr; daughters. Maria Lynn (Wayne) Smith and Ashley Vada Renee Coates; eleven grandchildren; brother, Gene (Susan) Coates; sister, Barbara (Tommy) Webster; a number of nieces and nephews; special friends, Dyson, Bo, Maxie, Wanda and Mr. Tony; and his best four-legged friends, Sweet Pea and Brody. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, December 4, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
