Linda Benton

Linda Carol Benton of Florence passed away at the age of 75 in her home with her family by her side on Thursday, December 15, 2022. She was preceded in death by her son Troulden Lee Benton III, brother Bill Mulligan, and mother Estelle Berhrens Keener. Born in Waycross, Ga. She owned and operated Linda’s Beauty Salon for over 50 years in Florence. Linda was a member of Unity Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Linda was most proud of being a loving, caring mother to her family, cooking and having Sunday dinner with her son. She was a compassionate, generous person who gave back to her community by donating her gift of cosmetology services to Funeral Homes in Florence. Her beloved fur baby Oakley, a English Bull dog, was her faithful companion for the last few years. Surviving is her son, Gilbert Scott Benton of Florence, sister Pat Nutter of Florence, brother John Keener (Janet) of Greensboro, North Carolina and August Mulligan (Joan) of Peoria, Arizona. Although her siblings were not in the area they always kept a close relationship. Family was a very important part of her life. She was loved by all her special nieces, family, friends and everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her with faith and family always being her most important priority. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 pm Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with the service to be held at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
