Dickie Tomlinson, 79, died Tuesday, November 7, after a brief illness. Born Liston DeLeon Tomlinson, Jr., his parents thought that was too big a name to call a child, so they nicknamed him Dickie, after a dear friend of his parents. Dickie loved deer hunting, fishing and most of all his family. After retiring from a very successful career with Sumter Utilities, he spent as much time as possible in the woods and on the water. Dickie is predeceased by his parents, Liston DeLeon Tomlinson Sr., and Beatrice McElveen Tomlinson; two younger brothers, Wayne and Paul Tomlinson; granddaughter, Renee Parker; and brother-in-law, Hector Rodriguez. He is survived by his significant other, Ann Lawrence and her son Scott Lawrence; his beloved only child Stacy Sherer (Scott); great-granddaughter, Ainsley Morales; and four nieces and five nephews who loved him dearly; siblings, Joyce T. Leach (Alvin), Stephen Tomlinson, and Jean T. Rodriguez.
