Lloyd George Floyd Florence, SC Lloyd George Floyd of Florence, SC died December 7, 2010 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence of complications from Alzheimer’s. He was born on May 7, 1922 to Eva Blanch Floyd and George Washington Floyd in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. Lloyd was a decorated veteran of World War II having received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his war effort during the European Campaign. He was a fire fighter having retired in 1980 from the Florence Fire Department. His passion and gift to all were his skills as a carpenter. He was an avid fisherman and a green thumb gardener. He was a loving father to his eight children and his three stepchildren. He gave his heart to all he met. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Litha F. Locklear, Carlisle Floyd, Carrie F.McElveen Taylor, John L. Floyd, Vernie F. Hatchell and Eugene Floyd. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Monique Jespers Floyd, sons Johnny G Floyd, Ronnie L. Floyd, Theodore J. Floyd, Steven R E Floyd and stepson Ricky C. Flynn. He leaves behind his wife Martha A. Floyd and children Monique F. Bowes (Jimmie) of Roxboro, NC, Richard J. Floyd (Grace) of Quinby, SC, Anthony M. Floyd of Blue Ridge, GA and Lloyd C. Floyd (Pam) of Florence, SC. His stepchildren are Lisa F Watson (Mike) and David B Flynn (Melissa) of Lancaster, SC. He had ten grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 3PM Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home in Florence. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM at the Funeral Home prior to the service. A committal service will be held at a later date. The family requests in lieu offlowers that memorials may be made in Lloyds’ name to Bethel United Methodist Church, 4146 Shiloh Unity Rd, Lancaster, SC 29720or McLeod Hospice House P.O.
