Lois Jenkins, (nee Van Sant), age 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2022. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, and spent many years in New Jersey, California, and Tennessee before retiring in Florence in 2010. Lois is the daughter of Margaret Boyle and Lester Van Sant of Philadelphia, PA. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Paul Bruce Jenkins; daughter, Lauren (Simon) Drabble; sisters, Andrea Van Sant and Marian (Bruce) Wagner; brother, Bill (Dana) Van Sant; grandson, Joshua (Kristen) Moran and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Abigail. Lois loved her family more than anything. She was a tenacious and courageous working single-mother in the 1960s-70s, always putting her daughter first. She met and married Paul Bruce Jenkins in 1981 and shared more than just a life together. Lois worked in the travel industry for over 30 years, primarily with TWA, and had a love of travel, which she imprinted on her daughter. She was her grandson's biggest fan whether it was in school or on baseball fields. She never missed the chance to say how proud she was of all that he did. All of her free time would be spent enjoying her family's company.Lois loved the beach, especially the Jersey shore. She enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, and a good crime mystery. She was a fan of music and dancing and some of her happiest times were cutting a rug with children in the family at a wedding. Lois had a big heart and would take in stray dogs and people who needed a home to share the love. The memorial service on June 17 2022 will be private at the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home inFlorence, SC. Many people have expressed warm and funny stories over the past few days of their memories of Lois. In lieu of donations, keep those memories and stories coming to keep her in your heart. In the future there will be a ceremony to spread her ashes at one of her favorite places.
