Loren Fred Blackwell, Jr.

LOREN FRED BLACKWELL, JR. FLORENCE, SC LOREN FRED BLACKWELL, JR., 60, of Florence, died Monday, September 20, 2010 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mr. Blackwell was born in Hartsville, a son of Eunice Peeples Blackwell and the late Loren Fred Blackwell, Sr.He retired after 22 years from CSX Railroad as a Section Forman.He was a member of Mizpah Baptist Church and for all of his life had been involved in local short track racing having been a driver and an owner. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Theresa Moore Blackwell of Florence; his mother of Florence; sons, Bryan Blackwell, his fiancée, Angela Teal and her son, Austin Teal, all of Florence and Loren Fred Blackwell, III of Florence; brother, Jimmy (Deb) Blackwell of Simpsonville, SC; sister, Janet (David) Smith of Florence; grandchildren, Sydney and Sullivan Blackwell and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Avenue North, Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC29577. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Mizpah Baptist Church.Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of David and Janet Smith, 5977 East Old Marion Highway, Florence.
