Louise West Baer

Louise West Baer Florence, SC Louise West Baer, 96, of Florence, died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee after an illness. Mrs. Baer was born in Whitestone, SC a daughter of the late Samuel Rufus and Bertie McBride West.She lived most of her life in Spartanburg, SC where she was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Azalea Garden Club.She and Mr. Baer moved to Columbia, SC in 1966 where they were members of the Washington Street United Methodist Church and she was a charter member of the WSUMC Foundation, a member of the Iris Garden Club and the Settler's Club.She and Mr. Baer moved to a retirement home in Florence, SC in 1994 and were members of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, R.H. Baer, Jr. Surviving are her son, Rafe (Betty) Baer, III, of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Cara "Tata" Baer (Larry) Murphy of Florence; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 5446, Florence, SC29502. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 14, 2011 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Spartanburg, SC directed by J.F. Floyd Mortuary of Spartanburg. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home of Florence is assisting the family with local arrangements.
