MARC SARCHET DAVIS Florence, SC MARC SARCHET DAVIS, 76, a resident of the Methodist Manor, passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 11, 2011. Mr. Davis was born April 18, 1935 in Circleville, Ohio, a son of the late Albert Bartlett Davis and Helen Sarchet Davis. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia in 1957 with a B.S. Degree in mechanical engineering. While a student there, he was one of seven students chosen to participate in their first co-op program working at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia.Mr. Davis retired from DuPont De Nemours E.I. & Company, Inc. after 34 years of service at three locations - Richmond, Virginia, Circleville, Ohio, and Florence, South Carolina.Marc also served on the board at The House of Hope and worked with the Boy Scouts and the Little League. He was a former president of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and the Dupont Retirees Club. Both groups will serve as honorary pallbearers.In 1995 he was chairman of the trustees at Central United Methodist Church during the renovation of the sanctuary, overseeing the work and, as pastor Chad Davis said "He did a marvelous job of keeping things on schedule."His love of life was singing.Marc sang in the Chancel Choir of Central United Methodist Church for 26 years, and also the Masterworks Choir.He will be remembered as a gentle, soft-spoken person with a very large heart who, in his own quiet way, touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to call him friend. Marc is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Coverston Davis; sons, Steven Marc (Beth) Davis and Brian Wayne (Megan) Davis; sister, Dianne Davis (Robert) Hodge; brother, Larry Albert (Sterry) Davis; grandchildren, Carson Davis, Brooke Davis, Jenna Davis, and John Davis; and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held 3:00PM, Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Central United Methodist Church. Visitation will follow in the Church Commons.Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
