Margaret Louise Saverance

Margaret Louise Saverance, 91, of Darlington, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025 after an extended illness. She was born the daughter of the late Robert Eldon and Louise Cunningham Saverance. She grew up in Pamplico, graduating from Pamplico High School and Winthrop College. Margaret spent her career in education from 1955 until retiring in 1998, having served as Educational Director and Youth Director at churches in Edgefield, Spartanburg, Jacksonville, FL, Dillon, Cayce and Beaufort. She was ordained in July, 1998, by the Baptist Church of Beaufort where she served for 14 years. She moved to Florence and became a volunteer Chaplain for McLeod Regional Medical Center. She was a resident of Bethea Baptist Retirement Community and was a member of Bethea Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her step-mother, Isla Atkinson Saverance and brother, Robert Eldon Saverance, Jr. She is survived by her half-brother, Charles Eldon Saverance. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Woodside Cemetery in Pamplico, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home of Florence, SC.
