Margaret G. Sprenger

September 26, 1936 — February 6, 2023

Margaret G. Sprenger, 86, of Florence passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023, at McLeod Hospice House. Mrs. Sprenger was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, the daughter of the late Jean McLeod Fraser Goobie and John Charles Goobie. She was a volunteer for Toys for Tots and Cooks for Christ. Mrs. Sprenger was a member of St. Anthony’s Women’s Guild and a member of St. Anthony’s since 1971. She retired from the dental practice of Dr. George Richardson after working for him as a receptionist for 27 years. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Robert Burtnett Sprenger; step-son, Gregory Sprenger; and a dear friend, Ed Garand. Mrs. Sprenger is survived by her sons, Robert J. (Kaye) Geiger of Florence, SC, William F. (Antonia) Geiger of Rome, Italy; James D. (Kim) Geiger of Lamar, SC; daughter, Catherine G. (Hal) Nelson of Horseheads, NY; stepsons, Arthur L. (Barbara) Sprenger of Florence, SC, Edward (Melanie) Sprenger of Florence, SC, Timothy R. (Suzanne) Sprenger of Timmonsville, SC; step-daughters, Barbara A. (Rick) Morrow of Lancaster, PA, Juliann S. (Luther) Hunter of Davenport, FL, and Ruthann (Ross) Hamilton of Ft. Mitchell, KY; stepdaughter-in-law, Sue Sprenger of Dixon, IL; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at St. Anthony Catholic Church directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends following the service at the Church. The family wanted to send their special thanks to the McLeod Hospital System and McLeod Hospice House for the care given to Mrs. Sprenger.
