MARGIE WILLIAMS STRAND FLORENCE, SC Margie Williams Strand, 85, of Florence, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 in a Florence health care facility after an illness. Born in Toledo, Ohio she was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church where she was a Senior Activities Director and chapel volunteer. She was past Executive Director of the Florence Area Literacy Council . Mrs. Strand was a Rotarian, a member of Toastmasters International, and volunteer for the Manna House Parking Lot Ministries. Mrs. Strand is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Belk and Louise Goff Williams; by her spouses,John Campion Usryand Alfred Norman Strand; two brothers, Thomas Belk Williams, Jr. and James Liakos; and a granddaughter, Elise Blanchard. Surviving are her children, Jacie (Jimmy) Godfrey of Florence , John (Betty) Usry of Manning, SC, Stephen ( Susan) Usry of Myrtle Beach, Dominique Holt of Charleston, Cecilia (Ron) Smith of Florence, Rosalyn (Jim) Blanchard of Taylors, SC, andThomas Strand of Dallas, TX; a brother, Larry (JoAnne) Brown of Sarasota, FL; sisters, Catherine Deas of Florence and Becky (Mike) Owens of Little Rock, AR; 17 grandchildren, Benjie (Heidi) Godfrey, Anna Godfrey, Nicholas (Dominique) Godfrey, Campion Usry, Elizabeth Usry, John (Michele) Usry, Rebecca Usry, Jennifer Aiken, Mary Margaret (Patrick) Manning, Chelsea Holt, William Holt, Matt Smith, Amy (Elias) Bustos, Megan Strand, Katherine Strand, Avery Strand, and Lydia Strand; and 6 great-grandchildren, James and August Barron, Jade and Jules Godfrey, Marcela Bustos, and Oliver Manning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11:30AM Saturday, October 29, 2011 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
