Marion Lee Jackson, age 95, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, April 18, 2025. Born August 4, 1929, in Florence County, he was the son of the late Zannie J. and Lorie Hudson Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jessie Hodge Jackson; his son and daughter-in-law, M.L. “Jack” and Brenda Herring Jackson; and a granddaughter, Emily Grace Jackson. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Tracy Jackson of Whispering Pines, NC; two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan Cochran of Florence and Paige and Marty Bright of Lawrenceville, GA. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Andrew Bright (Carrington) of Vass, NC; Rachel Bright of Savannah, GA; Mary Beth Jackson of Raleigh, NC; Daniel Jackson of Whispering Pines, NC; and his great-granddaughter, Baker Grace Bright of Vass, NC. He is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Joan Jackson of Sumter, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him. Marion retired in 1985 after a 30-year career at DuPont, where he formed many lifelong friendships. Never one to sit still, he touched many more lives through his “rolling store,” bringing fruit, vegetables, and various goods door-to-door throughout the county until 1992 – a venture he truly loved. A devoted family man, Marion found his greatest joy in spending time spent with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He also had a deep love for gardening, fishing, and especially deer hunting. He was a faithful member of Tans Bay Baptist Church and a member and Past Master of Flintville Masonic Lodge in Evergreen, SC. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the funeral service at Florence Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tans Bay Baptist Church Building Fund, 3919 S. Irby St., Florence, SC 29505.
