Martha Ann Nettles, a devoted advocate for veterans and a woman of unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on February 18, 1947, Martha dedicated much of her life to helping veterans secure the benefits they deserved. With a compassionate heart and a determined spirit, she worked tirelessly to support those who served their country, ensuring they received the care and recognition they had earned. Her efforts touched countless lives and made a lasting impact in her community. Martha was also a faithful member of Evergreen Baptist Church, where she found great joy in worship, fellowship, and service. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her in her love for family, friends, and those in need. She is survived by her husband, Larry Nettles of Effingham, SC; daughter, Wendy (Jay) Nettles Cagle of Effingham, SC; grandchildren, Rivers Larry Nettles of Effingham, SC and Katie Cagle; brother, Terry (Tammy) Bruce of Florence, SC; and sister, Judy (Danny) Thompson of Florence, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents Jeff W. Bruce and Alma Barnio Bruce Poston; brothers, Larry Michael Bruce, Glenn Bruce and Don Bruce of Florence, SC. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will be private at the National Cemetery. Martha’s kindness, faith, dedication to helping others, and her family will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
