Mary Aalda Sturgeon Wiggins

Mary Alda Sturgeon Wiggins Florence, SC Mary Alda Sturgeon Wiggins, 82 of Florence, formerly of Surfside Beach, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in a local health care facility after an illness. Mrs. Wiggins was born in Coward, a daughter of the late James Hampton and Mary Alverta Miles Sturgeon, Sr.She was a member of Kingsway Pentecostal Holiness Church in Myrtle Beach, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, David Wiggins; a son, David Allen Wiggins; two brothers, James Hampton Sturgeon, Jr. and Johnny Sturgeon; and two sisters, Virginia Sturgeon and Carolyn Gaines. Surviving are four children, James L. (Bobbie) Wiggins of Oak Island, NC, Steve R. (Shelia) Wiggins of Atlanta, GA, Erick D. (Claire) Wiggins of Concord, NC and Susan Denise (Vernon H.) Young of Effingham; a brother, Lawrence (Dawn) Sturgeon of Norfolk, VA; two sisters, Ruth Ward and Elizabeth (Howell) Hurst, both of Sumter; two sister-in-laws, Dolly Sturgeon of VA and Sally Sturgeon of Florence; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery in Coward. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
