Mary Elizabeth Edwards Evans

Mary Edwards Evans, 98, of Florence, SC, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Mrs. Evans was born in Southport, NC, the daughter of the late Rev. John Robert Edwards and Gertrude Selby Edwards. She was a long-time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was active in many of its capacities. She never met strangers, as she loved to make new friends. Mrs. Evans worked as a teacher for more than 20 years for Florence School District One. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald W. Evans; and brothers, Robert Dixon Edwards and Rev. J. Paul Edwards. Surviving are her son, Gerald W. (Elizabeth) Evans; her daughter, Ann (John) Pincelli; sister-in-law, Gerry Edwards; grandchildren, Luke (Molly) Pincelli, Sara Pincelli, Michael Evans, Mark (Margaret New) Evans, and Emily Evans; and great-grandchildren, Otis Pincelli and Marlo Pincelli. Memorials can be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church; PO BOX 5446, Florence, SC 29501. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the Methodist Manor Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in the chapel.
