Mary Eliza Rouse Odom

Mary Eliza Rouse Odom Florence, SC Mary Eliza Rouse Odom, 93, died Tuesday, October 25, 2010 in the McLeod Hospice House after an illness. Mrs. Odom was born in Columbia, SC a daughter of the late John Wesley and Mary Eliza Smaw Rouse. She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and former member of Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member for 50 years. She retired as Office Manager from Quality Motors after 28 years of service. She loved flowers, feeding and watching birds, golfing, fishing and the beach, she especially loved her dog, Princess. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry B. Odom, Jr. and step-mother, Walker Gasque Rouse, by whom she was raised. Surviving are a son, Henry Baxter (Mary Belle) Odom, III of Dahlgren, Va; 2 daughters, Barbara (Wayne) Gause of Fountain Inn, SC and Peggy (Ivan) Eaddy of Florence, SC; sister, Katherine Smith of York, Pa; grandchildren, Rebecca (Shaw) Thompson of Florence, Stephanie (Sean) Flynn of Fountain Inn, SC., Brian (Nikki) Eaddy of King George, Va., Stephen (Jessica) Gause of Charleston, SC., Henry Baxter Odom, IV of Alexandria, VA, John (Melissa) Odom of Nashua, N.H., Sarah Odom (Jameson) Terry of Alexandria, VA and Rosemary Odom (D.J.) Hicks of Caroline Co., VA; great-grandchildren, Alexander Odom and Jackson Odom, both of Nashua, N.H., Luke Eaddy, Karsyn Eaddy and Amy Eaddy, all of King George, VA and William Clark Terryof Alexandria, VA., and longtime friend, Kay Turner of Florence, SC. Memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice House, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC29502 or to the Florence Area Humane Society, PO Box 4808, Florence, SC 29502. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 28, 2010 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
