On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Mary Huggins Hardy Floyd passed away in Florence, SC at the age of 98 years old. She was the widow of Rheuben J. Floyd and was born on November 14, 1926, to the late Rosa Haselden Huggins and Herbert Allison Huggins in Lake City, SC. She is survived by her sister, Mable Hyman of Florence; her children, Cathye Hardy Wilson of Florence, Joni Hardy (Robert) Whitehead of Pawleys Island, Pamela Hardy Streett of Murrells Inlet, a daughter-in-law, Susan Buddin Hardy of Charleston, and a son-in-law, H. Allen Timmons of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren, Hannah (Will) Brown of Mt. Pleasant, Cameron (Cliff) Barron of Lake City, Wilson Hardy of Florence, Drew (Brandy) Streett of Pawleys Island, Chandler (Shawn) Streett of Murrells Inlet, Wendell (Tammy) Hardy of Naples, FL, and Brooks (Victoria) Hardy of Boiling Springs; 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as Nicole (Travis) Avant of Lexington and many extended family members. Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Coker Hardy; sons, Wendell Bruce (Marie) Hardy and Randal Coker Hardy; a daughter, Gloria Hardy Timmons; sons-in-law, David Edward Wilson and Robert Harrington Streett; sisters, Betty Jean (Hagood) Driggers and Nell (Johnny) Owens; brothers, W. W. (Basel) Huggins and Herbert (Marguerite) Huggins, and brother-in-law, Clyde Hyman. She enjoyed a long career in the healthcare industry as a purchasing director at Lower Florence County Hospital and continued her career at Florence General Hospital and HealthSouth Rehabilitation. Active in Florence Baptist Temple, Mary taught Sunday School, led bible studies, and sang in the choir all to passionately share her love for Jesus Christ. As one of the oldest members of FBT, she enjoyed a wonderful circle of friends who visited often to show their love and kindness. She was a proud mother and grandmother, and treasured every moment spent at family gatherings, often baking her famous biscuits and pound cakes to share. Sincere appreciation is extended to her caregivers, Sadie Solomon and Rosemary Cockfield, to McLeod Hospice, and to Florence Place Assisted Living for their loving care and support over the years. The service will be held at Florence Baptist Temple on Saturday, February 1st at 11:00am, officiated by Pastor Bill Monroe. The family will receive friends from 10:00am to the time of the service. The burial will be private, and memorial contributions may be made to the FBT Missions Fund, PO Box 12809, Florence, SC 29504 or McLeod Hospice, 1203 E. Cheves Street, Florence, SC 29506.
