Maxey E. Poston

Maxey E. Poston, 95, of Florence, SC, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023. Mr. Poston was born in Florence, SC, the son of the late McCray Poston and Gussie Turner Poston. He was married to his loving wife, the late, Mary Gregg Poston, for 74 years and a member of First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Poston, Hasford Poston, and Phillip Poston; sisters, Ruth Gaskins, Vivian Hodges, and Alberta Ridgell. Surviving are his sons, Alan (Carol) Poston of Florence and Bobby (Jennie) Poston of Lumberton, NC; daughter, Maxine Hartley of Evergreen; grandchildren, Stephanie Poston (Stephen) Bragdon, Randy Hartley, Jason (Brandi) Hartley, Kayla Halchak, and Cassie Osteen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 South Irby Street, Florence, SC 29501. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
