Maxie Jack “Turkey” Gaymon, 73, of Effingham, SC, parted this life on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. Mr. Gaymon was born on May 3, 1949, in Florence County. He was the son of the late Spirgon Maxie and Gettie Lee Gaymon. He retired from the Florence Morning News as Pressroom Foreman in 2004. He worked for the Florence Morning News for 38 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gaymon was preceded in death by his brothers, John Wesley Gaymon and Robert Gaymon; sister, Virgie Lee Poston. He is survived by his wife, Susan Marie Gaymon; son, Maxie Jack Gaymon, Jr.; brother, Edward (Arlene) Gaymon, sisters, Mary Lyerly (late Willam), Betty Gaymon-Sligh (late Charlie). Mother in-law, Mary G. Coker;sister in-laws, Sandra Alexander, Sharon (Tony) Love, Wanda (Charles) Mouzon; brother in-laws Scott (Lois) Coker, Michael Coker, and a host of nieces/great nieces and nephews/great nephews. Mr. Gaymon, known best as ”Turkey”, was richly blessed with friends and family who loved him dearly and will miss him until we meet again in heaven. Memorial Service will be held at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June23, 2022, at 3:00 pm. The family will greet friends following the service.
