Myrtis Cook Clark, beloved mother, sister, and grandmother was welcomed by her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the age of 82. Myrtis was born on November 20, 1941, in Hampton County, South Carolina. She was a daughter of the late Lloyd H. Cook and Vera Middleton Cook. Myrtis was married to the late John D. Clark Jr. for 40 years and together they raised two beloved sons. She retired from G.E. in 2008 after 31 years of dedication. She was a devoted mother, but her grandchildren and great grandchildren were without a doubt, her pride and joy. Myrtis was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She loved the Lord and set an example of Christ to those around her. To her family and friends, Myrtis leaves behind a legacy of pure kindness, gentle strength and generosity. We will cherish her meekness, her sweet and unselfish spirit, her soft-spoken wisdom and her unconditional unwavering support and steadfast love. She is survived by a loving family that includes her sons, David (Amy) Clark of Florence, Phillip (Natalie) Clark of Wilmington, North Carolina; three grandchildren Jonathan (Natalia) Clark of Columbia, South Carolina, Meridyth (Brooke) Moore of Florence and Myranda Clark of Florence; seven great grandchildren, Emory, Ellis, Harleigh, Hayes, Kayleigh, Madison, and Joshua; a loving sister, Linda Ham of Effingham and 3 nephews, Tim, George and Thomas; and many cousins, friends, and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and her husband. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the family residence from 3:00-6:00 PM at 1348 Cottingham Rd, Florence, SC, 29505. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Monday, October 14, 2024, at Grace Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the nurses and staff at Heritage Home of Florence and to McLeod Hospice for the care and attention to their mother and grandmother.
