Nannette “Mamma Ayers” McWhite Ayers Florence, SC Nannette “Mamma Ayers” McWhite Ayers, 89 of Florence, died Tuesday, December 07, 2010 in a Darlington Health Care Facility. Mrs. Ayers was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late Alec and Mary Elizabeth McWhite She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelors degree. Mrs. Ayers was an active member of the community where she was the Owner and Operator of the Breezwood Motel and was a member of First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cecil L. “Roy” Ayers; a son, Gary H. Slavens; and seven siblings. Surviving are a grandson, Sanders H. (Baan) Slavens of Raleigh, NC; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine Annabelle Slavens and Jasper Hamilton Slavens; and a special and dear friend, William “Lovett” J. Lee of Effingham. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
