Nettie "Jean" Zahler O'Brien Florence, SC Nettie "Jean" Zahler O'Brien, 79, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at her residence after an illness. Mrs. O'Brien was born in Yemassee, SC a daughter of the late Eugene Clifford and Nettie Amanda Chisholm Zahler.She was a Registered Nurse that worked as Head Nurse on 4 North at McLeod Regional Medical Center where she had worked for 8 years and was the occupational health and plant nurse at General Electric for 16 years until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joyce Jordan Sunday School Class, was a member of the Occupational Health Nurses Association and was active in her bridge and garden club.She was a loving mother and grandmother that enjoyed traveling, gardening, volunteering her nursing services and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Harry D. O'Brien of Florence; sons, Harry D. (Tami) O'Brien, Jr. of Lexington, SC and Michael Allen (Emily) O'Brien of Ashburn, VA; daughter, Julie O'Brien (Christian) White of Florence; brother, Edwin Cliford Zahler of Conway; sister, Shirley Frame of Beaufort; grandchildren, Hannah Kathleen O'Brien Black, DeForest Calvert O'Brien, Summer Grace O'Brien, Olivia Evelyn O'Brien, Julianne O'Brien White and Thomas Chapman White. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 915 Cherokee Road, Florence, SC29501 or to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1800 Second Loop Road, Suite 16, Florence, SC29501. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
