Olwen Thomas Roney

OLWEN THOMAS RONEY FLORENCE, SC OLWEN THOMAS RONEY, 82, of Florence, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mrs. Roney was born in Wales, a daughter of the late Daniel and Alice Byrd Thomas.She was the owner and operator of Roney’s Frame Shop in Florence.She was a founding member of All Saints Episcopal Church and a founding and lifelong member of the Florence Little Theatre where she served in every aspect of the theatrical productions at FLT.She was a special needs teacher’s assistant at Royall Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jackson Lee Roney, who died January 20, 2005. Surviving are her children, Lee (Paula) Roney of N. Myrtle Beach, Sian (Roy) Chipley of Florence, Dylan Roney and his fiancée Paula Stephens, of Evergreen, Colorado and Glynis (John) Lowrance of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Whitney Chipley (Kris) Meade and Marshall Chipley, both of Florence, Fielding Lowrance and Parker Lowrance, both of Greenville and Meredith Olwen Roney, of Evergreen, Colorado; sister, Joyce Thomas (Peter) Way of Bournemouth, England. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence.
