Paul Sylvester Gastauer

Paul Sylvester Gastauer, of Florence, SC, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2023. Mr. Gastauer, born in Cincinatti, Ohio, is the son of the late Al Gastauer and Thelma Pittman Gastauer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Sue (Norman) Murphy. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Linda Greene Gastauer; son, Jeffrey Gastauer (Andy) of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Valerie McElroy of Florence, SC; granddaughter, Kelsey Green; great-granddaughter, Journee Green; brother, Jerry (Lyn) Gastauer of Carlsbad, CA; two nieces and two nephews. Paul served in the United States Air Force and was a Seabee in the Navy Reserves. He retired from the gas and electric company as a meter tester in San Diego before moving to Florence. He was a member of the American Legion of Lynchburg, SC Post 140. Paul never met a stranger. He enjoyed attending high school sporting events. He loved spending time with his family and pets. A memorial service will be held at Florence National Cemetery on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 2:00 PM.
