Rev. Joseph Carlisle Grimsley

Rev. Joseph Carlisle Grimsley Florence, SC Rev. Joseph Carlisle Grimsley, 76, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Duke University Hospital after an extended illness. Rev. Grimsley was born in Florence County, a son of the late Lonnie E. and Margaret Langston Grimsley, Sr.Rev. Grimsley served his country in the US Marine Corps.He retired from Wellman Industries and was a former minister with the Church of God of Prophecy in Ninety-six, SC and the Pleasant Grove Church of God of Prophecy. He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by two brothers, Robbie Lee Grimsley and Lonnie E. Grimsley, Jr. Surviving are a daughter, Sidney Lynn Pennington of Folley, AL; a grandson, Daniel Vincent Pennington of Folley, AL; two sisters, Nancy G. Wallace and Shirley G. Greer both of Florence. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans Association, 1106 Oakland Avenue, Florence, SC 29506. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 PM on Monday, March 26, 2012 at the funeral home and at other times at his residence.
